It is said that a woman is not complete unless she becomes a mother. But due to our changing social norms there are women who ignore this phenomenon. One child, late pregnancy- all are very common. We can consider pregnancy after 35 as one example of late pregnancy. Why 35? Why not 34 or 37? Well, after 30, any age can be risky to conceive a child or to bear it or to bring him/her in the light of the earth. But 35 have been specifically selected to provide the message that 35 is the peak of life, it’s the middle period of one’s life. There are many risks associated with carry a baby and give a successful birth at a late than average age. There are, usually three types of major risks associated with pregnancy at 35. What are these? Following is provided a discussion on the three main risks of pregnancy ate 35.
· Physical Risk: it is the most visible and prominent risk category. As women mature physically with age, so do the crucial internalities. It’s true that premature pregnancy is harmful for both the mother and the child, but it is equally true that there is a time for everything. This is one risk of pregnancy at 35- our body ages more than necessary and thus poses a lot of threats to conceiving successfully. Other risks of pregnancy at 35 associated with the inability of the body to cope with pregnancy related issues are abnormal nauseas feeling, leg cramping, shortness of breath, acidity, contraction, pubic bone pain, insomnia etc. there is a comparatively new sort of risk associated with late pregnancy at 35- diabetes. Yes, previously not so familiar but now in plenty is the exposure to diabetes-it is highly probable that with growing age, a would-be mother increases the risk of getting diabetes and in case she does- it will 100% be transmitted to the baby yet to be born. So, the risk is not only for the conceiving person, it lies on the conceived child’s end too.
· Psychological Risk: when the woman is a grown person, she reduces the risk of massive mood swing or inability to cope with uncertainty. But it is probable that she will develop other psychological risks. First of all, it is always ticking inside the head that the baby might come out abnormal-physically or psychologically. There is also the risk of pregnancy at 35 that for whatever reason that she has not yet gotten pregnant, dominates her thoughts. There is always a guilty feeling crossing her mind. These are some of the reasons that may pose the threat of acute depression and frustrations. As the probability of miscarriage is on the rise and thus the expecting woman is always tensed and eventually, in a circular manner, she is unconsciously increasing the chances of having miscarriage even more. These psychological risks associate with late pregnancy at 35 are not good friends of the would-be mother and can make her sick or render her internal environment incapable of bearing a child-ever.
· Risk For The Child: There are two major risks associated with late at the age of 35 that affects the potential child dreadfully. First, the child might not see the lights of the world at all- meaning that the expecting woman bears high risk of a miscarriage and thus have an unexpected and sudden interruption to her pregnancy. The child might be born in a pre-mature stage-7 months into conceiving for example-these babies have very low rates of survival; even if they do, they usually have some disorders present. And then there is another common threat of pregnancy at the age of 35- the increased probability of an abnormal child- a child with the Down’s Syndrome- one chromosome less or more in the cell or autism- the immature development of the brain. Both of these syndromes come as a curse to child and more unfortunately to the mother- a curse for life. If the child is born with one of these- the life of the mother changes forever, of course not in a good way.
These were some of the crucial risks of pregnancy at 35. As we can see, there are both pros and cons of pregnancy at this late age in one’s life. What one needs to do is to judge oneself with parameters like physical fitness and mental hold. If one is confident enough and knows that even if the phenomenon is delayed and the risks of pregnancy at 35 are moderate and can be coped successfully, only then should one consider such a thing.
