My Period Is Late Am I Pregnant

There are a lot of body signs to go by in determining if a woman is actually pregnant or not. However, one of the most common one is the missed period, or a delay in a woman’s menstrual cycle. However, so that there is not confusion, it would be wise to understand signs of pregnancy so you do not mistake a missed period for a pregnancy, when in reality, it isn’t. It is possible for you to begin to show symptoms of pregnancy within one week of conception. However, some women would actually not display even one symptom of pregnancy. Here are some of the most common symptoms of pregnancy:

Spotting

This is the direct result of the action of the embryo’s implantation in the walls of the uterus. This symptom is more vivid in about six to twelve days after the conception has taken place. Some of the signs that follow spotting include bleeding and cramping. The bleeding is usually classified as a light one. However, sometimes the reason for a spotting may be that your real period is on its way. Some hormonal changes have been known to induce spotting, as well as a switch in your contraceptive pills.

The Missed Period/ Changed Period Timetable

If you have experienced a missed period, you can do the safe thing and have a test over the counter to determine if you are pregnant or not. There are some women who can actually have their periods normally even if they are pregnant or not. A lot of women would have their normal menstrual cycle even in the first few months of their pregnancy. It is possible for women to experience some light bleeding in the first few months of their menstrual cycle after they are certified pregnant. However, some other factors may trigger a missed period. Some of them include a change in weight, problems with their hormones, stress or tension. Changes in contraceptive pills may also be a factor.

Tenderness In The Breasts

For some women, when they are one to two weeks pregnant, they may begin to experience tenderness in their breasts. This I usually followed by a darkening in the areolas, and veining of their nipples. Their breasts may also become swollen. These are early sign symptoms of pregnancy in most women.

Tiredness And General Body Weakness

It is very common for most pregnant women to begin to feel exceptionally tired. In most cases, a little exertion would suddenly leave them feeling week and faint. However, this may not be an accurate indicator of a pregnancy, especially if it occurs in a standalone form. Some other possible causes of fatigue include depression, cold, a sickness or stress related factors.

Vomiting And Morning Sickness

This usually happens about two to eight weeks after the first day of the conception. However, some women do not experience this particular phenomenon, while some will actually get this form of sickness quite early on in their pregnancy.

Aches In The Back

This occurs because the body is trying to adjust to the extra weight of the body and to other internal factors. However, this alone is not an indicator of pregnancy, since PMS and stress have been known to trigger the same reaction.

Headaches

When the hormones in the woman are said to be raging, they can account for the frequent headaches that plague pregnant women. However, some other causes of headaches include stress on the eyes or strains to the brain.

Frequent Passing Of Urine

This is most common in women who are about six to eight weeks pregnant. A physiological explanation for this arises from the fact that the uterus of the woman would push against the bladder, thereby increasing the pressure on it, and causing the woman to want to seek relief often. However, this is not a basis for founding your pregnancy on, as once can experience the same queer urinary issues from infections to the urinary tract and also from medically related problems.

Craving For Food

Pregnant women generally have cravings for special kinds of food, and these food types can fall in a very broad range of food types. In another related event, pregnant women might have a loathing for some kinds of food. The loathing could be so much that the smell of it alone could trigger waves of nausea. However some other factors that may trigger this same food response may be a low nutrient intake on the part of the woman, stress and depression. Low diet intake may also be factored in.

From the above, one can draw the logical assumption that pregnancy symptoms have a lot of similarity toe medical factors. It is advised that if you think you are pregnant, you might want to take an over the counter test, just to be sure.
