Getting Pregnant With Endometriosis

When tissues cells that are found in the lining of the uterus grow abnormally in other regions in the body like the rectum, the bladder and even the ovaries, the condition is called endometriosis. They can cause bleeding, pain and even infertility for a long time. These cells, endometrial cells, during the menstrual cycle are shed every month. The cells that grow and attach themselves outside the uterus or in any other part of the body are called implants.

This condition affects women who are in their fertility ages. Every month the endometrial cells are stimulated so that they can increase in numbers as they await a fertilized egg. The hormone responsible for the stimulation comes from the ovaries. When they increase, the lining walls of the uterus swell and become thicker. Since the cells that are found anywhere else other than the uterus are not removed at the end of the month like the ones in the uterus, they usually get better by healing, but when that time of the month comes, they are stimulated again and may grow bigger.

If this process of healing and stimulation continues, the areas affected end up having scars and become very painful in some women. It is a common problem and can affect women whose menstrual cycle will start early, periods that go on for more than 7 days, women who have never had children are at risk and also those who experience their menstrual cycle more often than not. The symptoms may include having an allergy, sometimes fatigue, yeast infection that occurs frequently, pain when urinating during your period, among others.

If a woman has endometriosis, the odds of getting pregnant are very low than chances of a woman who does not have this condition and if the woman conceives, there is a high chance of suffering a miscarriage. It is highly likely not to have any symptoms over the years for some lucky women; others will suffer very intensely due to this condition. Sex becomes so painful for the woman with the condition, such that she ends up waiting for so long to get pregnant and others just give up completely.

In instances of mild endometriosis, the women are encouraged to try and conceive because there are techniques that will improve the rate of conceiving and getting pregnant. Also, it is early enough for the fallopian tubes not to be blocked by the tissue and prevent the passage or the release of the egg. The is a method which involves intrauterine insemination; this is where the sperm is directly injected into the uterus. If its given enough and ample time, it improves the rate at which a woman with endometriosis can get pregnant.

Other than surgery and intrauterine insemination, there are the fertility drugs that are used for a while to treat infertility. These drugs help to induce ovulation in women who cannot ovulate or have problems with ovulation, when there are certain hormones which have been abnormally secreted or the process of healing of endometriosis and reoccurring, has left a scar tissue.

If the condition is severe, then surgery becomes an option because of the risk of infertility if left untreated. Laparoscopy involves having a single or more incisions, which is a small cut in your body when the doctors want to check for any abnormal or scar tissue in the body. When the affected area is found, it can be removed surgically. Nevertheless, when the condition is extreme and severe, the doctors will use another process called laparotomy.

There is a very successful process for those who suffer from the condition, since fertilization will take place outside the body; therefore, the ability of the abnormal tissue to affect the fertilization process is reduced. In-vitro fertilization, abbreviated as IVF, has enabled women who are infertile to conceive.

Changing your lifestyle can help in boosting your immune system, reducing the symptoms of endometriosis and improve your fertility. There are natural ways to use that will even increase your chances of getting pregnant. The diet is one of the areas you need to change. When you improve your diet, you are giving your body a chance to become healthier and adjust the hormonal imbalance in your body, like excess estrogen, which can be naturally reduced or cleared.

Alcohol is known as a factor that decreases your infertility. When you reduce or stop all together, your chances of getting pregnant even with endometriosis are high. It decreases the body’s ability to absorb various minerals that are a necessary requirement to your body.  Avoid drinking too much caffeine for a few months before conceiving.  This will prepare your body by increasing fertility and ability to conceive. You can also use supplements like selenium, vitamin A, E and C, folic acid and even herbal treatment options like chaste tree berry.
