Babies are real bundles of joy. They are like little angels.  They bring smiles and give us hope to live, to love and enjoy life.  Here are few facts about getting pregnant. I surely hope this article will help some countless women out there who are having some hard time making babies of their own.  Let us first know what pregnancy is

What is pregnancy

Obviously, pregnancy or the start of prenatal development starts when the union of a man’s sperm and a woman’s egg during sexual contact occurs and results to the fertilization and the formation of a zygote that survives.

When is the best time to conceive

Perhaps, one of the most fulfilling moment in a woman’s life is the day when she conceives and gives birth to her child, where her parents blood flow, their genes transferred, a replica of her or him, whatever his sex may be.  While many women are blessed with a body that is able to conceive easily under given circumstances, a great number of women have difficulty getting pregnant.  Studies show that, a couple should at least make love 2-3 times a week to increase their chances of getting pregnant. Fertile days are usually counted after menstruation.  This is the best time to make love so to speak.  Nevertheless, if a couple is really aiming to have a baby, they should still do make love even when the woman thinks she is not fertile.  This is for the reason that, sometimes ovulation can occur unexpectedly, and for the fact that the sperm can survive under ideal conditions for 5 days in the woman’s body.

Once your lovemaking is regulated, you can now determine your fertile window.   What is this? This is the number of days before and your ovulation day.  These days doctor recommend-making love every day.  If your partner has issues on sperm count, he must visit his doctor for possible treatment and maybe get advice on a special lovemaking schedule, where the sperms are not scanty.

Peak fertility for a woman is the 24-hour period before ovulation takes place, and 2- 3 days after ovulation.  With the use of any numbers of LH kits, scopes, monitors and other ovulation prediction gadgets, you can now possibly point out the start date for the baby-making window of opportunity.  Intercourse after the ovulation date will not ensure conception, because of the fact that the egg can only survive for just a day.  So if you have doubts, seek for doctors’ advice. It is better to play it safe.

Best Position for Conception

The best position for conception is the missionary position or the man on top position.  There have been no proven studies on this, but this position allows deep penetration thereby bringing the sperms closer to the cervix.  Another sexual position that could very well ensure contact between sperm and egg is DH or doggy style, where you enter from the rear, either kneeling or lying down.  Just like the missionary style, it allows for deep penetration.  This is usually prescribed to women with tilted uterus.

Best Position for Conception of a baby girl or Boy

According to the book The Shettles Method, if you want a baby girl, couples should have intercourse three or more days before ovulation and must stick to the missionary position.  Shallow penetration is also advised.  While, if you want a boy, the sexual position recommended for couples is the rear entry, otherwise called doggy style.  This time, deep penetration is advised.

Signs of Pregnancy

After all your efforts to bring about pregnancy, it might be helpful for an expectant mom to know the signs of pregnancy.  Upon fertilization of the ovum, a woman will miss her monthly menstruation.  After a few days of no period, she should have her pregnancy tests.  The doctor will give you a test kit.  A positive sign indicates pregnancy.  Other early signs of pregnancy are nausea and vomiting which is not limited to occurring in the morning, but anytime of the day.  Frequent urination is experienced.  Sometimes, a woman notices light bleeding or spotting and complains of cramps in the lower pelvic area.
